Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Tanja Marina Bay and ADSP (Sardinia)
A Strategic Alliance Between the Ports of the Sardinian Sea Port System and Tangier for the Integrated Development of Luxury Yachting and Superyachts The activities envisaged under the Memorandum will be implemented through shared operational plans, technical meetings, delegation exchanges, and staff training programs. “With the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding,” explains Domenico Bagalà, President of the Sardinian Sea Port System Authority, “we are embarking on a significant collaboration with a leading partner in the Mediterranean region. Our objective, supported by the growing international relations that the Authority is developing across its areas of expertise, from freight and ferries to cruises and recreational boating, is to strengthen the positioning of our ports in all markets and, in this specific case, in the luxury yachting and shipbuilding sectors.
This strategy is designed to attract, in a circular and mutually beneficial manner, new high value-added tourism flows for the yachting industry and, more specifically for the island, for winter refit activities. It represents a major opportunity for economic growth, as well as social and employment development, through which Sardinia can strengthen its internationalization strategy in the yachting sector, while Tangier will be able to rely on qualified partners with whom to build a structured vocation.” “This Memorandum of Understanding,” explains Mohamed Ouanaya, President of the Port of Tangier City, “constitutes a crucial step in defining a structured partnership between our institutions, based on the principles of creating shared and sustainable value. The Tangier City Port Marina, strategically located at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar, one of the world's main international shipping routes, represents a natural hub for attracting and channeling international superyacht traffic. In this context, the Kingdom of Morocco, as the gateway to the African continent, and particularly the city of Tangier, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and recognized experience in welcoming high-end tourism, offers a privileged environment supported by modern infrastructure perfectly suited to superyachts. The complementarity with Sardinia, an outstanding destination in the Mediterranean basin, opens significant development prospects, both in terms of increasing tourism flows and structuring an integrated nautical ecosystem. This partnership embodies a vision of mutual benefits, where the excellence of both destinations, combined with high standards of safety and hospitality, creates the conditions for shared growth and strengthens the international positioning of both regions.”
