Mediterranean Forum on Sustainable Tourism and the Blue Economy – Méditour Agadir 2026
A heartfelt thank you to all the organizers and the local authorities of the Souss Massa Region for the outstanding quality of this event, as well as to all the speakers for the richness of the insights shared and the collective vision put forward for the future of Mediterranean tourism.
The discussions confirmed that maritime tourism, whether cruise tourism, recreational boating, or yachting, is now a major driver of economic, territorial, and tourism development. They also highlighted several strategic priorities that will determine the future competitiveness of our destinations.
Among the key priorities identified: 🔹 The development of an emergency action plan for human resources, aimed at addressing the growing demand for specialized skills. 🔹 The structuring of maritime and blue economy clusters at both national and regional levels, bringing together all stakeholders across the value chain around a shared development vision, as successfully achieved by our European neighbors. 🔹 Strengthening cooperation with ports along the West Med corridor, particularly in Spain and Portugal, in order to develop regional synergies, foster innovation, and promote more attractive maritime routes (see: MoU between the Port Authorities of Málaga and Tenerife and Tangier City Port, and the MoU between Tangier City Port and the Sardinian Port System Authority - AdSP). 🔹 Developing partnerships with international centers of excellence specialized in the superyacht industry, a high value-added sector that offers significant opportunities for investment, skilled job creation, and international visibility.
For Tangier City Port, these priorities are fully aligned with the strategy pursued over recent years to position Tangier as a leading maritime destination in the Mediterranean, combining excellence in infrastructure, quality of service, multimodal connectivity, and integration into major international maritime tourism networks. The competitiveness of tomorrow’s destinations will increasingly depend on their ability to operate as ecosystems, develop skills, strengthen regional cooperation, and generate sustainable value for local communities. Once again, my sincere thanks to the organizers, speakers, and all participants for these inspiring exchanges, which will undoubtedly help shape the future of maritime tourism in the Mediterranean.
